Welcome to the Hoy At Anchor Folk Club

The Hoy is one of the longest running and most prestigious folk clubs in the country. Starting in 1970, the club met at the ‘Hoy and Helmet’ pub in Benfleet.

After a short while the club moved to the nearby ‘Anchor’ pub and ever since then it has been known as ‘The Hoy at Anchor Folk Club’.

Every Tuesday night

The function room of the Estuary Club is transformed into a comfortable and friendly venue for the Folk Club where we we present the best in national, international, and local folk musicians.

Wood, wire, and voice

The vast majority of our concerts are presented without the use of any amplification. Whether it is a full band, or an unaccompanied singer, you can hear the sound of fantastic music which is truly acoustic, truly unplugged.

Quality music, low cost

As a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, we can offer admission charges that are extraordinarily good value for an evening’s entertainment. Most Tuesdays we charge less than £10. Pay even less if you become a member for a nominal fee.

We are also lucky to have use of the Estuary Club’s bar which sells drinks at club prices.
