Accessibility

The Hoy at Anchor Folk Club (the ‘Hoy’) is a small, friendly club with a welcoming team – we want everyone to feel at home here. We view the Hoy at Anchor as a relaxed venue – that means we welcome people who can’t always sit still and in silence throughout a performance. We ask that everyone is respectful and kind to other audience members and artists – not all disabilities are visible.

Access to the Venue

The Hoy meets in the function room of the Estuary Club, 386 London Rd, Leigh-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea SS9 2UJ.

The Estuary club has a car park to the rear. Two of the bays are reserved for Blue Badge holders.

Step-free access to the function room is available via a ramp from the car park at the rear of the building.

An accessible toilet is available at the top of the ramp, adjacent to the entrance to the function room.  The toilet normally  uses a RADAR key for entry, but is left unlocked during the evening.

Access to the rest of the building, including the other toilets and the bar, involves going up and down several sets of 2 or 3 steps.  If you would like to buy drinks, but are unable to get to the bar then please ask any of the Hoy team who will be happy to help.

We do not use a raised stage as a performance area, as a result we can welcome performers with mobility issues.
